Volunteers

Volunteers are a vital part of the Hospice team.

Being a hospice volunteer is gratifying, intellectually stimulating and emotionally meaningful. Volunteers of Continuum Care Hospice represent all ages and life experiences. They are drawn to hospice for a variety of reasons. Some have experienced hospice services in caring for their own family members. Some just enjoy sharing their talents with others. All are united because of their compassion to give back to the community and the desire to help others.

Volunteers can be utilized by hospice in many different ways. Their service helps fulfill the mission of hospice which is to provide the best possible care to our patients and to promote hospice within their communities. Volunteers are called upon to donate their time working in the following capacities:

• Hospice friendly visitors
• Creative people to sew memory bears
• Pet therapy
• Musicians
• Massage therapy
• Office and administrative support
• Bereavement volunteer

All volunteers are placed in assignments that fit their skill set and time availability. All volunteers complete a 12 hour training that is scheduled on various days and times to accommodate as many people as possible. After completing the training, volunteers are free to choose in what capacity they wish to serve. The volunteer time commitment and assignments are very flexible. Consider becoming a Continuum Care Hospice volunteer and share your time and talents with our patients!
